The Art of a Boozy Brunch for Beginners
In New York City – brunch is a religion. And it really doesn’t even have to try that hard. Ever met someone who just doesn’t like brunch? Same. There’s something about 11 am when the boroughs telepathically discuss brunch spot options. Some have been known to miss it completely in sheer indecision (can someone tell them about Little Ways?).
Brunch is an invitation. It can host many different worldviews at one table with one mention of “mimo- …” It’s the meeting place of ‘meal times’ where nothing is off the table. Brunch has a reputation, deservedly so. And brunch in Soho? You’re gonna want to hear this.
Let’s Make a Day of It
It’s not Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but it’s the sequel. A social gathering with the ability to define a day and/or an event, it’s what you want it to be. It doesn’t hold the expectation of dinner, nor does it try to nudge you into starting your day as anything other than what you want it to be. Somewhere between 11 am and 4 pm, the potential of an intentional gathering feeds a magnetic, self-evolved place like Soho.
No pressure, right? Actually, pretty much, yes. From small, memorable gatherings with old and new friends to downright hashtag-able events at your go-to spot a little ways down the road. You just know that they know a little something-something about hosting special events, too.
One sip of the lime-induced Alfonso or the Harry Styles watermelon sugar highs, and you’re sold. They’re signature Little Ways cocktails year-round, by the way. But Harry Styles himself, or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air royalty, are always welcome at this Soho brunch restaurant.
Styled With Substance
Cue your idea of an al fresco food scene and accessible yet velvet-bedecked loft aesthetic. Do you see it yet? The drinks are merry and plentiful. A brunch tradition is looming. Your next event’s location – done deal.
The Smoked Ham Eggs Benny tells Monday tales of envy at the office, and the Meyer Lemon Sorbet challenges brunch naysayers to question their life’s food thoughts. Oh, and in case you wanted that second date, the Portobello Mushrooms and Roasted Plum Tomatoes flirt well with any taste bud. It sounds fancy, but it’s really just a space for you and your circle in town.
In between the versatility of a space that offers so much – seeping with styled sentimentality – lies stories. It’s brunch in Soho that’s yours, mine, ours.
Do You Want Some Ice With That?
Truthfully, it doesn’t take much to convince the table of a few rounds of drinks at brunch. So, when do you say ‘when,’ and how do you pace yourself when you know that this will likely turn into a whole-day kind of situation? Here are some tips for those daytime sips when you’re out for brunch in Soho.
You can always go for the non-alcoholic options, they’re just as good. It’s also a nifty idea to intersperse your drinks with food (hello, Chef’s Cheese & Meat Selection, or a plate of fries). Perhaps, most importantly, grab a water – still or sparkling – to hydrate.
Meet You at Little Ways for a Soho Brunch
You and brunch make a pretty cute couple. You know each other’s likes and dislikes. You speak the same language. Is it official yet? Hope so.
May your bread be buttered on both sides, with extra avocado, and the sips of a brunch communion overflow. It seems that a peek at the menu is worthwhile.
See you for brunch soon?
